To Do List for Year 33

Its my 33rd birthday tomorrow and to do something fun, I thought I would make a list of things to do over this next year. Some are home improvement, some are things I’ve never done and really want to accomplish, and some are just self improvement.  I was sort of inspired by my Instagram “photo a day” challenge back in May.  It was fun having a topic and having to get creative when taking pictures. I know my kids are fun to look at, but it was good to spice it up. I thought this list might help me KEEP on being creative by challenging myself to do simple, yet fun things.  Putting things off is dumb, yet we are all guilty of doing it.  With the uncertainly of how much time we all get to live on this planet,  you would think that would be a natural motivator to accomplish our menial goals such as making fresh pasta. But that leads to, “Eh. I’d have to go to the store. And my kitchen counters are dirty. Plus I have to unload the dishwasher.” ENOUGH!! I’m doing it, god damn it! So play along or just ride along. If I stick to #15, you’ll be seeing lots of progress reports til I hit year 34 🙂  And holler if you wanna join me on any of these! (Except #9. I’m not cleaning your messy house too.) WISH ME LUCK!

1. Take the kids to Disneyland. This won’t happen til next year, but I really wanna go. Alex would go bonkers.

2. Go on a monthly date night with Henry.

3. Quit eating pork. I’ve lost the appetite for it and its bad for my health. More on that later.

4. Make a quilt. No clue where to start, but I want to make them for the kids.

5. Visit Alcatraz. Never been. Wanna go.

6. Make fresh pasta and host an Italiano feast for mi familia

7. Paint my room a moody grey color.

8. Buy a bed frame

9. De-clutter one room of the house every month and donate stuff after the summer and after the winter seasons. Purge, baby!

10. Grow more food. Henry is obsessed with gardening and I’m reaping the benefits of awesome veggies.

11. Start composting.

12. Drop 4 more lbs. Because you can never be too skinny. Or rich. (kidding) #kindof

13. Take Alex to a Giants game. This one is for me too. My fan status is growing because of my son and its probably been 10 years since I’ve gone to an SF game.

14. Spend less time on my phone when I’m not by myself. I find myself, and Henry, checking our phones too much and not being present with the kids. Its dumb and I’ve got to knock it off.

15. Blog once a week. This one is making me sweat, but I can probably get a post out of each item on this list, so I’m gonna try.

16. Eat fewer sweets. Sugar is the devil and if I am successful, it might knock out #4 at the same time.

17. Have a garage sale. This plays nicely into the de-cluttering and saving for Greece challenges.

18. Unsubscribe from all the retail emails that tempt me into shopping. I hate waking up to 60 bullshit emails every morning.

19. Volunteer my time for a charity.

20. Take a “mom only” weekend with WHOMEVER. Vagina mandatory.

21. Get a house cleaner every 3 months. A clean house makes me oh-so-happy.

22. Pay off credit card. – duh

23. Read 4 books. Game of Thrones Series – Here I come.

24. Save for trip to Greece. I want to go in the summer of 2015 so its gonna take some time to save up that chunk.

25. Work out 2x a week. Once a week is more realistic, but I’m gonna aim high.

26. Take a card making classes at Paper Garden. I love paper. And stamps. And all things crafty.

27. Take a cooking class. I love to cook and I want to learn some new skills.

28. Run a 5k. Honestly, I don’t REALLY want to do this one. I put it on here to push myself. Or torture…not sure which yet.

29. Take a blogging class so I can make my shit look more profesh.

30. Attend or host a painting party. Who doesn’t like wine and amateur art?

31. Go to Carmel for a long weekend and take kids to Monterey Bay Aquarium.

32. Go to 2 concerts. JT is on the books for July 26. CAN’T WAIT!

33. Go on 2 quick overnights w/Hank sans kids. (SF, Napa, & Tahoe?) Taking babysitting offers NOW.
