I no longer have a baby boy. I have a talking, running, bossy young man on my hands. Sometimes it hits me like a ton of bricks that he is so grown up. 19 months is still little for sure, but when you think back to how he used to sleep on your chest for hours, it seems like a lifetime ago. Every day the words come and new tricks arise. Like learning how to climb on the kitchen chairs or stand up in his high chair when he’s done eating. Or pointing to his diaper and saying “poo-poo”. It happens fast. Too fast.
New things in his world:
Sitting in Daddy’s old raggedy chair and reading a book by himself.
Taking too big of bites of his food and making himself gag. That’s a fun one.
Shoving my hand away when I try to help him with a task and saying, “No, no, no!”
Pointing at things and laughing like he just saw something hilarious. Usually at the cats.
No more bottles
More climbing
Obsessed with Thomas the Train
Making animal noises unprompted
Loves hearing and spotting airplanes
Greeting people by waving hello and goodbye. If you’re lucky, you get a kiss blown your way. He also says bye but it sounds like, “die die”. Pretty cute
And yes, I’m still Dada or Yiayia. Sigh.
Papou sounds like “Pou-fou”. Which is extra funny because in Greek that is what you say after some one farts. haha!!
When I say, “Alex, gimme a kiss.” instead of doing it, he gives me a devilish grin and says, “no.”
All just a taste of what’s to come, I guess. The kid knows how to command the room though, that’s for sure!
Enjoy the little man’s latest shenanigans.
