Alex’s 3rd Birthday Par-Tee!

Alex’s golf theme party was a hit this year. With lots of cousins and a few close friends we celebrated Alex’s 3rd birthday.  I bought a ton of plastic kid golf clubs and arranged a lot of sugary goodies to eat and let the kids go wild.  Amazingly, no one used their clubs as a weapon so I’d say the party was a huge success. I made a little “pro shop” with visors, balls, tees, and clubs for the kids to load up on some golf gear. And my “snack shack” was the food table. We did Togo’s sandwiches (my fave), pub mac ‘n’ cheese, and fruit. I didn’t cook a damn thing and Henry didn’t torch anything on the BBQ. Win/Win.  And I love hearing, “Togo’s? I LOVE Togo’s!” Who doesn’t, my friend? All in all, it was a nice, mellow party and Alex almost refused to blow his candles out because he didn’t want to stop hitting balls.

Me: Alex, c’mon. Its time to sing Happy Birthday and blow out your candles.

Alex: Mooooommmmmmm. Uggggghhhhhhh!! I’m not done hitting this balllllll!

Three going on thirteen. Man. God give me the strength.  He’s got the three year old fire burning bright right now. Lots of attitude and defiance. But this weekend, he climbed into our bed early in the morning and I felt him kiss my forehead. I’m happy to see a little bit of that sweet baby boy in there sometimes. Its not often, but its there.

Happy Birthday, Leko! We love you madly! Image
