Ok, almost caught up here. Man the holidays are just a time suck, right?!
I don’t have a firm weight, but if I had to guess, I’d say its around 16 to 16.5 lbs. She feels like 20. She is now eating 3 meals a day with four 6 oz bottles mixed in. I have started the weaning process due to a upcoming trip at the end of January and I wasn’t keen on the idea of lugging my pump on an airplane. Or dumping everything I pump over the weekend, for that matter. Plus, she might sleep better at night once she knows the boob is gone. Just a theory. I grasping at straws trying to figure out any method to help my kid sleep better.
New foods I have tried this month include Blueberries, Spinach, and Zucchini. She still favors the veggies which is awesome. And I have switched up the cooking method to roasting the food instead of boiling. Its supposed to hold the nutrients better. I think it tastes better too. I almost took a spoon and started in on her sweet potatoes last night. Prett-eh good. I’ve been feeding her in her little Bumbo seat but I think its highchair time. She’s getting really good at sitting up on her own now and I think the highchair might work better. Besides, she’s doing that thing where she leans her whole body off to the side of the chair so she can reach something. Still gives me a heart attack every time.
She is jibber-jabbing all the time now. And its official. Dada won AGAIN. I’ve even heard Yaya. Yes, I know that she has no idea what she’s saying but it still stings. No respect. There is also a lot of Baba, Wawa, and Gaga. Its pretty cute. And in addition to her screeching, she has also donned the habit of squealing while inhaling. Kinda like a slow, scream/gasp? She’s literally inventing new ways to be loud. Such raw talent. 😉 I find myself anxiously awaiting her to talk but then I snap back to reality that Alex’s CONSTANT talking makes my ears bleed on a daily basis. Two chatty kids? I already hear “Mom” 1,000 times a day. Now I realize why my Mom didn’t always respond when we called her. She probably wished she was deaf.
Her legs are getting very strong when you stand her up. She rolls over constantly…pretty effective mode of transportation if you ask me. She can push and scoot her way across the room to get what she wants but no official hands and knees crawling yet. The hair is FINALLY starting to come in a bit. I can’t tell if its going to be light or dark yet. Obviously, you know what I’m rooting for.
Sleep is still an issue. We are slowly getting closer to what feels like the finish line. She still wakes up an average of twice a night. A feeding will always knock her out but I hate perpetuating that habit. I know she doesn’t really need the milk, but for the sake of sleep, I give it to her and go right back to bed. Each month shows a bit of progress, so I’m going to let it slide for now.

** Sorry for the weird picture layouts. My “amazing new iphone” isn’t so amazing at uploading pictures to wordpress.
