Labor Day Weekend 2011

Henry wanted to take advantage of the 3 days off and head to Truckee with his folks and his brother’s family. This SOUNDED like a good idea in theory. We said, “Let’s leave around Alex’s bedtime so he can sleep on the way up and traffic should be light by that time.” So, we packed up, loaded the car, and headed out. Traffic was a dream for about an hour. Then we started to creep. Of course there is construction going on…of course there is. And of course Alex wakes up. And of course while we are inching along, Alex gets car sick and barfs all over himself and his new big boy car seat. Sweet. We get there damn near 10pm and he goes right down, no problem. But my Niece Mari, on the other hand, was still screaming from the baby room. Alina goes to check on her and discovers giant bugs crawling all over the floor. Simon kills the bugs and brings them to us AND NO ONE KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE! I could write a novel about this weekend, but to summarize: Alex was up every 2 hrs both night due to an ear infection we didn’t know about, Simon and Alina were awoken by a BAT flying around their room at 4 am., and we gave up and came home a day early. Henry and I were so wrecked from lack of sleep we almost cried when we got home. And if I had Valium regularly stocked in my medicine cabinet, I would have definitely hit that. You wouldn’t know it from the cheery pictures I’m posting, but this weekend was a true fail. Oh, and this was just the prelude because Alex came down with HFMD the next day. See last post. đŸ™‚ Party on, Wayne.
