I recently read a blog post about a mother of two (toddler boy and 10 week old girl) and she chronicled her day while on maternity leave. It was VERY accurate to what I went through while I was at home. But since I went back to work, I thought I’d sort of copy cat her post with my routine as a working mom of two. Ready?
5:45 am – Hit the snooze
6:00 am- Get up and pump. Considering I hate pumping, this is a crap way to start every day.
6:30 – Prepare 3 bottles of milk for the day, wash bottles I pumped with along w/pump parts.

6:45 – Shower
7-7:30 Make up, hair, clothes, pack kids (if going to yiayia’s), gather phone, purse, pump, and food for the day.
Work from 8-5

AFTER WORK:
Unload alllll these things from my car. One bag for each kid, purse, pump, milk cooler, and water bottle. Double stroller is still in the trunk.

Surely, Frankie has shit on the floor while we are gone, so I pick it up and clean the carpet. Today might be the day I call SPCA to pick him up.

Prep cloth diapers that were drying outside.

Prevent this from happening.

Make Alex dinner.

Usually, I have to wait til Henry gets home to even THINK about my dinner. One of us cooks, while the other plays defense on the unruly children.

Hmmm, do I fold this, or just rummage through it everyday until its used up??? More often than not, I leave it.

Some where in between all this madness, I manage to say two words to my husband, brush my teeth, and tuck those crazy kids into bed. I can’t even tell you how big of a sigh I let out when I finally lay down in bed. Thankfully, Chloe gives me at least one good 6 hour stretch of sleep. Alex was a better sleeper at this age, but I can’t really complain. And another bonus is that I only have this crazy schedule on Mondays. The rest of the week our amazing nanny Evelyn comes over at 7:30. This means I can throw the kids at her and run out the door as fast as I can. No packing or loading required. Having her watch the kids makes me wish I had done this a long time ago. Don’t get me wrong….daycare was great for Alex. But, this saves me such a hassle (and money) that daycare just seems absurd. Did this post make you tired? Yeah, me too. I’m going to bed. G’night.
