Truckee – Day 4

Well, we are much improved here today thanks to the blessed nap time.

Once we were all up, Dom went for a jog and my dad went for a bike ride. They both came back huffing and puffing saying the same thing, “There’s a lot of hills around here.” Serves them right for trying to be healthy and shit. After Chloe got up from a solid morning nap, Mari, Dom, and my family of four headed to the village for sushi. But this Mikuni’s doesn’t open til 3:00 p.m. I’ve been burned by this damned restaurant before and my memory failed me again. I was SO hungry and SO in the mood for my favorite Massa 3 roll, but we had to settle for Rubicon Pizza. I had salad. Wah waaahhhh. Then it was time for the pool! Alex kept saying he didn’t want to go so I had him all packed in the car and ready to drop him off back at home, when he said, “I wanna go with Henry!” So I got him out and made the best of this. We tag teamed the runts as per usual. I took Chloe into the 1 1/2 foot kiddie pool and she went nuts. Splashing, climbing on the steps, drinking as much pool water as possible. (gag) Alex was living it up in the hot tub. This is way more up his alley than a cold pool considering he likes his baths scolding hot. He even made friends with an older boy who thew his football back and forth with him. Anyways, after about a half hour, the natives were both restless and I didn’t have it in me to follow Chloe as she roamed around so we just went back home. And both kids went down for the next two hours. HEAVEN. I can’t even tell you what a difference this made at dinner time. They both sat and ate with us like normal human beings instead of defiant, crying maniacs. I seriously can’t wait for the day when my kids don’t need highchairs or for me to cut up their food. Could you imagine that kind of life?! What would I do with all that free time?? We had a wonderful meal and the boys cleaned the kitchen. I tell ya…the stars were aligned tonight, my friends. Tomorrow’s plans: Shopping in Truckee, Tie-Dye shirt making at the rec center, and lots of chocolate birthday cake for my Mom. I haven’t had dessert all week and I’m dying for a gooey piece of chocolate cake. mmmmmm
