Today was our last full day on our vacation here. I could use a few more days, honestly. To me, a vacation is just doing whatever you want whenever you want. No schedule or “planned” activities. The point of taking time off is to relax, right? Aside from the manual labor of hoarding children, we’ve done a good job of being mellow and just lounging around. And, I miraculously had time to finish my book!!! That’s a successful vacation.
My mission today was shopping. Downtown Truckee has some amazing boutiques and toy stores. I always find something fun for the kids. (And myself). My Mom and Alex came along and we hit the strip. Alex got a toy, a puzzle, paint brushes, and an ice cream cone. Chloe got a spill mat for under her high chair. This way I don’t have to get on my hands and knees to chisel fruit remnants off my kitchen floor. Best $20 I’ve ever spent. And I had to hit the candy store for my all-time favorite salted carmel chocolates. IN-sane. After our shopping trip, we all just vegged around til dinner.
In celebration of my Mom’s birthday and Mari’s upcoming wedding, we did a little champagne tasting. Don’t mind if I do!! We followed our champ buzz with another amazing dinner and some birthday cake. Happy Birthday, Mom!
After dinner, Mari brought her wedding invitations out for us to help with the stuffing. They look amazing. Probably THE most elegant invite I’ve ever received. After that it was just a mission to getting Alex down. It took an offer of a 2nd showing of The Sandlot to get him into bed. Whatever it takes, right? Sleep is king in my house so I’m not ashamed to admit I use bribes on the regular. All in all, our week here was really nice and I think everyone had fun. There’s a lot to do tomorrow to get the house picked up and everyone packed but as Scarlett says, “I’ll think about that tomorrow.” It will be nice to have my own bed back though. Thanks, Truckee for a great time!! Next time, we’ll bring our snow boots 🙂
