Yes this is an odd marker to warrant a blog post, but I we went to the dr. for a check up so I have current stats. There you go.
Petunia (Toon, Toonie, Chloe-Belle: as in goofy’s girlfriend Clara-Belle, Alex calls her “Took”) is different. The changes over the last 3 months are very noticeable. Not even just physically, although she is looking way less baby-like and much more little girl. She is tall and skinny with lots of sandy, curly hair and all of the sudden has this lovely long neck. That might be from the fading baby chub, but when she’s proud or knows she’s funny, she sticks her chin out and holds her head high. I practically slap myself in the forehead and fall back in my chair. I know I’ve said this a million times, but compared to Alex, she is on a whole ‘nother planet. She is brave, loud and bold. Words I would never in a million years use to describe my son. She’s the one I feel like I don’t have to worry about yet need to always keep my eye on, if that makes sense.
Stats: 20 lbs 11 oz (20%), 31.5″ (75%), 18.25″ head size (55%). She only gained one pound but grew and inch and a half. Dr said her weight percentile went down but it’s probably because she grew so much. Stretches things out a bit. It’s hard to be a tall super model, ya know?
Likes: Her bed, milk, graham crackers, bananas, grapes, gold fish, wearing her pink baseball mitt, her tent, running away from me, bath time, eating bubbles, emptying my bathroom drawers, putting on and taking off hair accessories, wearing shoes, and climbing on a stool or the coffee table at yiayia’s house. She’s a climber now. I never had any issues with Alex, but my Mom catches her standing on the coffee table if left alone for 10 seconds. She’s fucking quick. I will say, its hard not to giggle when you see it. She could get hurt, and that’s not funny at all. But its funny because she knows she’s done something impressive and then will look at you with her shit eating grin. She’s almost mastered climbing up onto the couch which will suck. And there is this bathroom stool that is migrating all over the house so Chloe can use for sitting or standing on. Honestly, I have days where I just can’t prevent injuries anymore and I want to just go about my business as if they aren’t there. If they get hurt, they get hurt. If some one is crying, I don’t care.
Dislikes: Molars coming in. 3 out of the 4 molars next to your k9’s are out and the last one is right there. It hasn’t been too bad, but the other night she was not happy and woke up 3 times until I hit her with some Tylenol. Literally. I threw the bottle at her face and said, “Knock it off!” Kidding! She also doesn’t care for Alex interfering with her business. If he wants to wrestle or takes a toy away, she will slap you in the face with that high pitched scream and shake her fists at you. She gets tense and starts to shake. We all joke that in about a year, they will be very evenly matched for a full on brawl. Its anyone’s game at that point. Maybe we’ll have a 3rd generation Rugger on our hands, who knows.
Tricks: She blows kisses and waves goodbye. Her words are growing like wildfire. She went from 3 words at 1 yr old to now about 15. She can communicate: Mom, Dad, garbage (caca), water, sippy cup (baba), up, shoes, cheers, bye bye, out, Alex, banana (nana), Yiayia, cracker (cah-cahhh) and Papou. She can also sign to us that she wants “more” of something or that she’s “all done” with her meal. Tonight she waved bye and blew me a kiss from her crib after I put her down for the night. Made me just shake my head and smile as I shut the door. That arsenal of words almost makes it possible to fully communicate with each other. There is also a constant chatter of hilarious non-sense. If my ears aren’t bleeding from Alex’s “Why? Why? Why?” they will blow out for sure once lil’ miss starts really going. Another trick is putting on a baseball mitt and throwing a ball to you as if you are playing catch. No doubt this comes from watching Big Brother, but still impressive to me, nonetheless. Also, anytime she sees some one leave our house she’ll blow kisses. She also kisses the mirror when looking at herself in the closet doors. So ridiculous. She has also stared fake laughing and crying. Both make me crack up. In this family, ya gotta have a strong sense of humor to get by, so she’s showing positive signs that she knows what’s funny. She has started to like her hair accessories. They hang on her bedroom wall and lately she points up to them and grunts. The clips are way too cute for words and I managed to have her still long enough for pig tails. It looked really cute, but we’ll see if she has the patience for it later. I have a feeling I’m going to burn up my luck with trying to get a brush through those curls.
Sleep continues to be a dream. Goes down at 7:30 after a bath and some books and literally will lounge around in her bed until some one fetches her in the morning. About once a week I’ll have to go in to cuddle because she’s had a bad dream or something, but that’s easy and I do appreciate the snuggles. I realize what she’s doing. She’s trying to make it up to me for all those months of awful sleep deprivation. We’ll I’m not falling for it. I’m still on my toes for something else she maybe cooking up for me. Tantrums, biting, what? Whatchu’ got girl?! I’m like that paranoid girl in the horror movie shouting into the dark. “Where are you?!?!”
While she is still a bit physically demanding with the diaper changing, carrying her around, and following her around while she explores, her personality still makes us all just laugh. She thankfully doesn’t object to a lot of things or outings, so we are lucky that we don’t have to deal with meltdowns just yet. And I think I’ve almost adjusted to the scream. It still makes me shut my eyes and wince when it happens though. And unless she’s bumped or scraped something, she’ generally really happy and outgoing. We are starting daycare next month for two days a week to give my Mom some time off. I have a feeling Chloe is gonna run that toddler room. I can just see that the moment I set her down on that first day, she’s going to run to play with something and not even look back. Alex? He’s already telling me he doesn’t want to. Sigh. Night and day, these two.
I love this little girl so much. I literally can’t kiss her enough through the day. She probably gets the brunt of it since Alex doesn’t let me smooch on him as much anymore. Love you, Chloe Belle! Thank you for being such a joy xo
