Some might hear “Mom Group” and cringe. You might think we all breastfeed in a circle while discussing the best baby wipes to use. Not this group. This group was put together around the winter of 2009. Amazingly, I knew a ton of girls all pregnant and due that next summer. So we started getting together (waddling together is more like it) about once a month. We’ve kept this monthly meet up going for over 3 years now! Aside from a few breaks for the holidays or crazy summer schedules, we’ve managed to keep the party going. There are 13 of us (now with 25 kids – YIKES) which gives almost everyone a chance to host once a year the activities range from dinner out, to parks, hanging out at some one’s home and our holiday party in December. Of course, we have higher attendance when its a mom only day. Hmm, wonder why…..
These girls are all very different but very cool. We do talk about the kids a lot, but there are other topics of venting too. Minimal husband bashing, I promise. Its a valuable thing to have friends for yourself and your kids at the same time. My kids are literally growing up right next to these other kids and I hope that we can keep this group together for a long time. I can honestly say I like each girl and the best part of it, is that its drama free. Even when one kid fights with another, its dealt with and that’s the end. No parent judgement, which is always refreshing. I am so grateful for this group of friends. They make me laugh so hard every time we hang out. It’s pretty amazing how the universe made us all moms and brought us all together.
