Story-time with Alex

Alex has been non-stop chatty all summer long.  His vocab grows everyday and he is now pointing out letters on his own without being prompted.  Kinda cool.  But before all the words he had now, there were stories.  Simple stories, 3 word sentences at most.  The funny thing about them, is that he tells the same ones multiples times a day.  Now, I know this sounds a bit “Rain Man”, but we have learned to appreciate them.  I document them now so we never forget.  In my best Mr. Roger’s voice, “Come join me, won’t you?”

Most frequently, we get: “Dada, shaw shaw, eye.”

Translation: One time, I hit dad in the eye with my pacifier. ( pacifier = shaw shaw)

“Hit, Mom.”

Translation: Pretty self explanatory.  I hit my Mom and she gave me a time out.

“Ry-Ry, push, me.”

Translation: My friend Ryan pushed me at daycare.  He got in trouble.

“Baby, choo choo, eye”

Translation:  I threw my train and hit Chloe in the eye.  She was pissed.”

“Blao poop” (Blao = Meow)

Translation:  My cat keeps shitting on the floor.

“Yiayia, oh-show.  Papou choo choo.”  (Oh-show = Airplane)

Translation: When we were in Truckee, Yiayia bought me a toy airplane and Papou held me while we looked at the Amtrak train.”

“Truck, mess”

Translation:  The garbage truck didn’t pick up the leaf pile and left a mess.

Anyway, you get the idea.  We hear at LEAST one of these everyday.  At first, it was really annoying and to this day we still respond with, “Yes! We know! Dada shaw shaw eye!!!”  But there will be a day when he’s a moody teenager that won’t want to even look in my direction, let alone tell me about his day.  So savor it, I will.  Preach on, Alex.  Preach on.
